Questions for Individuals + Families
I don’t have coverage, can I sign up?
Anyone can sign up to use Bento. Download the app, put in your information and add a payment method and that’s it. You won’t be charged for anything until you go to the dentist.
How is Bento different from my current dental insurance?
You no longer need to pay monthly premiums. Get pre-negotiated rates with dentists nationwide but only pay-when-you go.
Why do you need my social security number?
Bento uses your Social Security Number for identity verification. This ensures that only you have access to your HIPAA-compliant information, PII, and enrollments.
When will my credit card be charged?
Creating a Bento account is free! You will only be charged after your service is complete.
How do I find a dentist?
Download the free mobile app and select “Dentists” to search for a dentist anywhere in the United States.
Questions for Employers
How will I self-insure my company?
Your company will contribute the same monthly premiums into a company owned bank account. Bento moves plan dollars only when employees receive services.
Is Employee Data Protected?
Of course. Bento is HIPAA-compliant, and built with security and fraud detection. Employee PHI and PII is completely protected.
How will I manage all the employees at my company?
Bento’s Employer Portal is where you manage enrollment, employee status, COBRA, all in one place. We also seamlessly integrate with existing payroll, benefit, and HCM systems.
How long will it take for an employee to setup the app?
Enrollment for an individual or a family takes less than 5 minutes and can be completed anytime, anywhere during open enrollment.
What happens if an employee leaves?
Employer coverage will end on the date you choose however, employees can elect to stay covered by connecting an out-of-pocket method in the Bento App.
How do I get Bento for my company?

Questions for Employees
How can I see if my dentist in a Bento Dentist?
Create a free account by downloading the Bento Dental app and search directly on your phone. When your employer’s coverage starts your account will be automatically updated.
Can I refer my provider?
Absolutely! Launch the app and refer your provider with one tap. Bento’s team will then connect with your referred provider for you.
Does my plan work like other insurance plans?
Yes, your plan will pay for all services in accordance with your plan. You are still responsible for any co-pays.
What if I go to a non-Bento dentist?
Bento works at ALL licensed dental providers nationwide. Non-Bento dentists may charge additional out-of-pocket costs. In an event where a member is required to pay the full cost of treatment upfront, Bento will process the claim and reimburse the member directly.
How do I pay any out-of-pocket costs?
Your provider will directly collect any out-of-pocket costs from you. All plan payments are handles through Bento.
Questions for Dentists
Who is paying me?
If the patient has an Employer plan, Bento moves the money on behalf of the employer, directly from their bank account to yours.
If the patient has an Individual plan, Bento charges the patient’s credit card on file and moves the money directly to your bank account.
How long does it take to get paid?
7 Business Days.
Is Bento a discount plan?
No. Bento pays fees on all CDT codes similar to carriers you already accept.
Do you have a fee schedule?
Yes. A full fee schedules is available to download and review while creating a free account.
How do I file claims?
You won’t need to. The Bento Dentist Portal will tell you in real-time the amount covered by the plan, and the patient portion (if applicable), on a per service basis. You’ll get paid directly after services are complete.
